Environmental aspects

Up to now wind power has been land-based, but technological advances and increasing problems obtaining permissions to erect wind turbines on land have made the construction of wind farms at sea a competitive possibility.

Placing wind turbines at sea is an advantage for the environment – the power output of the same turbine is approx. 50 per cent larger than on land. Furthermore, in connection with the siting of Horns Rev wind farm, great importance has been attached to making the turbines fit in with nature.
